Eva GallerEva was born in Oleszyce, Poland on January 1st, of 1924. She grew up in a small town with just over seven-thousand families and half of those families being Jews.
As the invasion of Poland took place, Eva and her family were taken from their home and forced onto cattle trains. Luckily standing near a window, Eva could see a young boy viciously rip open the barbed wire to the window and jumped out. People small enough to fit through the small opening did. Eva's father begged Eva and her two younger siblings to jump out of the window and run to freedom while her parents stay. Eva then jumped out of the window, and following were her two other siblings. Eva fell in a large snow pile and no bullets hit her. After waiting a long while for the train to pass, Eva got out of the snow pile to find that both her siblings were shot and died. Eva ran back to her town where she moved from house to house, hiding ad crouching from the officers. One year later, Eva ha managed to sneak onto a Polish children working farm and went by the name of Katazyna and pretended to be Catholic. She was liberated by the Russians in 1945 |
